MindfrontTechnical datasheet · Protocol v5

Mindfront Fiber.

A protocol to connect your software to AI.

Included with every Mindfront deployment. The protocol is free to use, with no restrictions or proprietary software required.

A small HTTP service gives Mindfront access to the business operations you choose. Your team owns the service, its code and its business rules. No SDK is required.

What you can connect

Actions

Operations Mindfront can run in your software. Expose a business task such as checking stock or creating a quote, with defined inputs and a declared risk level.

Skills

Written procedures in the open Agent Skills format. Bundle instructions and reference files that Mindfront loads when needed. A skill cannot grant itself permission to run an action.

Events

Changes in your business, such as a new order or a stock alert. Your service supplies events that can start configured background work in Mindfront.

Control at both ends

Mindfront applies role, user and module access controls. Each action declares a risk level; live policy determines whether it runs, needs review or approval, or is blocked.

Your service validates inputs and enforces your business rules. Keep backend credentials in the service. Connect over a private network, or use HTTPS with configured authentication headers.

Build with your coding AI.

Give your developer the protocol and quickstart. Their coding AI can build the connection using the language and tools your team already uses.

  1. Choose a business operation.

Start with one useful task. Define what it may read or change, and the rules it must follow.

  2. Build and test the service.

Implement the capability catalogue and action routes. Validate inputs, handle errors and test against your system.

  3. Connect it in Mindfront.

Add the service address and authentication settings. Configure access and approval policies before enabling it.

Protocol at a glance

Transport
HTTP and JSON. Use any language that can serve HTTP.
Discovery
GET /meta describes the service. Actions, skills and events are optional. Mindfront polls for changes.
Actions
POST to a route you define. Inputs use JSON Schema; responses declare success, failure or invalid input.
Risk declarations
safe, machineApprovalRequired, humanApprovalRequired, or forbidden. Mindfront’s live policy determines the review path.
Delivery
Actions time out after 100 seconds and are not retried. Events are polled and drained; delivery is at most once, so events can be lost.
Ownership
You host and maintain your service. Mindfront does not need access to its source code.

Alongside built-in integrations and MCP

Use a built-in integration for a supported service, or MCP for an existing tool server that fits. Use Mindfront Fiber for operations and procedures tailored to your business. Access and approval policies apply to both Fiber and MCP.
